ㅣ POSCO received ‘Steel Industry Leadership for Steel’ and ‘Metal Company of the Year’
ㅣ GIGA Steel and higher-manganese steel, and contribution to Korean economy are highly recognized
One of the world giant steel manufacturers, POSCO won two awards at ‘Global Metals Awards’ with outstanding performances.
S&P Global Platts ‘Global Metal Awards’ held at Marriott London Grosvenor Square Hotel in London on 17th of May. POSCO was named in both ‘Steel Industry Leadership’ and ‘Metal Company of the Year’. POSCO is the first Korean company that won the prestigious award.
Approximately, 250 global industry executives participated the award for celebration.
S&P Global Platts is one of the subsidiaries of S&P global including S&P Ratings, Dow Jones Indices that provides S&P 500 index. S&P Global Platts is a global leading provider of energy and commodity market data and analysis. They have been presenting 14 global metal companies based on 14 categories including CEO of the year, Breakthrough Solution of the Year, Corporate Social Responsibility Awards, Steel Industry Leadership Award and Aluminum Industry Leadership Award.
Companies are nominated by recommendation from other companies or institutions or even voluntary application. Those nominated companies are selected by strict evaluation by external experts such as former CEO of market analysis agencies or raw material and steel trading companies.
In the award ceremony, S&P Global Platts explained that wide range of commitments of POSCO, including not only contribution to local society and entire Korean country but also innovative technologies such as World Premium Products, Giga steel and Higher Manganese Steel, are the adequate reasons to be selected for the awards.
POSCO’s impressive performance of profitability and POSCO’s unique AI applied strategy, ‘Smartization’ which showed distinct performance were convincing enough to be selected as ‘Metal Company of the Year’.
POSCO has been listed on the top for ‘world’s most competitive steelmaker’ for 8 consecutive years by World Steel Dynamics, the world leading steel industry analysis agency. Also POSCO listed 13 consecutive years on Dow Jones Sustainability Index, developed by S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM.
