l June 3 to June 16 – Application open for POSCO’s ‘AI Big Data Academy’
l The Academy to help prepare students for the data-driven fourth industrial revolution
POSCO is stepping up the support for new graduates seeking career opportunities in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning – the application is now open for POSCO’s ‘AI and the Big Data Academy,’ for its seventh cycle.
In 2017, POSCO and the Pohang University of Science and Technology faculty developed an exclusive curriculum for the Academy – in 2018, 70 university graduates received the training. This year, POSCO wants to make the program more accessible with a view to training 200 job seekers every year. POSCO’s AI-Big Data Academy is set to run for the next five years.
Korea’s top AI professionals will lead the three-month program in which the students can learn about the theory and practice of artificial intelligence. The students will also test their knowledge through workshops designed to challenge them to apply their classroom learning to real business situations.
With free room and board, the training is provided at no cost – the trainees will also receive a monthly stipend of one million KRW. At the completion of the program, internship at POSTECH will be available for the high-achieving participants.
So-Yoon Jun who is currently attending the sixth cycle of the academy says, “Learning from POSTECH faculty members, it’s a tremendous privilege. As far as artificial intelligence is concerned, they are the best in the country. I find the curriculum and the professors’ feedback extremely helpful.”
POSCO’s AI-Big Data Academy is an important part of POSCO’s corporate citizenship endeavor – the company plans to revamp employment opportunities for job seekers and help pave the road so Korea can welcome the Fourth Industrial Revolution with open arms.
New graduates seeking career opportunities in the relevant field can apply between June 3 to June 16. The seventh cycle of POSCO’s AI-Big Data Academy will take place at POSTECH from July 1 to September 23. For more information, visit http://youth.posco.com
