The move anticipates surging demand for eco-friendly steel and underscores the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
POSCO YAMATO VINA, the solitary H-beam manufacturer in Vietnam under the stewardship of CEO Lee Young-woo, has blazed a trail in the country’s steel sector by obtaining the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification from UL (Underwriters Laboratories), a preeminent safety and environmental certification body, on June 15th.
The EPD certification exhaustively evaluates a product’s environmental footprint throughout its life cycle, encompassing raw materials extraction, production, transportation, and disposal. It rigorously assesses seven pivotal criteria: carbon emissions, water quality, ozone layer protection, acid rain, and air pollution.
Foreseeing a swell in demand for eco-friendly products due to burgeoning exports to Australia and Europe, coupled with an increasing presence of global manufacturing facilities within Vietnam, POSCO YAMATO VINA embarked on the quest for this green certification in January.
This certification paves the way for POSCO YAMATO VINA to consolidate its standing as an eco-conscious steel company in Vietnam, with a blueprint to develop an eco-friendly steel ecosystem in tandem with customers and stakeholders.’
