Argentina is the world’s fourth largest lithium-producing country and POSCO Group is the first Korean company to commercialize lithium in Argentina.

This meeting was held once again after Jeong-woo Choi, CEO of POSCO Group met with Alberto Angel Fernandez, president of Argentina in March to request support for the hosting of the Busan Expo and POSCO group has been meeting senior officials from the Argentine government to spur negotiations.

At this meeting, Tak Jeong, president of POSCO repeatedly emphasized that Busan, Korea’s number one port city, is the best city to host the World Expo and Myung-soo Jang, Korean Ambassador to Argentina also attended the event as one-team of the public-private sectors to actively support the hosting of the World Expo.

He also thanked the Argentine government for its cooperation and support.

CEO Jeong-woo Choi is currently serving as a private committee bid member and president Tak Jeong is serving as an executive committee member for the Busan Expo. Starting July this year, POSCO Group has newly launched its task force (TF) to strengthen its bid support and is focusing its efforts on overseas negotiations and public relations in the group’s major negotiating countries including Argentina, Vietnam, and Mexico, as well as public relations activities to raise public interest.

Meanwhile, Argentine government officials also showed great interest in souvenirs specially made and delivered by POSCO with PosART*. This souvenir was evaluated that it captures Busan’s attractions such as Haeundae, Gwangan Bridge, and Nurimaru APEC House, which boast natural beauty amidst the unchanging solidity of steel, and demonstrates the strengths of ‘Busan, the place where cutting-edge technology and nature coexist’.
