POSCO JK Solid Solution completed the construction of a solid electrolyte plant with a production amount of 24 tons a year

This year, POSCO Group enhanced its next-generation secondary battery material business portfolio, such as by sharing investment with the solid-state battery company ProLogium and the acquisition of the silicon anode materials company Tera Technos
POSCO Group built a solid electrolyte plant and started to preoccupy the next-generation secondary battery market.
On Oct. 28, POSCO Group held a ceremony for the completion of POSCO JK Solid Solution with about 50 officials including Byung-gyu Kim, deputy governor of Gyeongsangnam-do Economy, Jong-hee Lee, chairman of the Yangsan City Council, Jeong-gon Lee, deputy mayor of Yangsan-si, Byeong-og Yoo, head of the Green Materials & Energy Business Team, Kyung-sub Lee, head of the LiB Materials Business, and Tae-heung Kim, president of Jeongkwan Co. in attendance.
“The solid electrolyte business is POSCO Group’s representative future material business. With the completion of POSCO JK Solid Solution as a stepping stone, we will preoccupy the next-generation secondary battery market by acquiring certification with global battery companies and carmakers and increasing the production amount to the level of thousands of tons,”said Byeong-og Yoo, head of the Green Materials & Energy Business Team.
POSCO JK Solid Solution is a joint corporation POSCO co-founded with Jeongkwan Co., a company that has Korea’s leading solid electrolyte technology, and with its completion, POSCO now has an annual production capacity of 24 tons of solid electrolyte.
Solid electrolyte is a core material used for solid-state battery, and is called a dream material because it can ensure safety and enhance energy density by replacing liquid electrolyte.
Meanwhile, POSCO Group has enhanced its business portfolio by proactively investing in next-generation secondary battery materials, such as by sharing investment with the solid-state battery company ProLogium and the acquisition of the silicon anode materials company Tera Technos.
